About
Welcome to Vino & Peperoncino Ristorante Bistrot Food & Wine, a delightful culinary gem nestled in the heart of Rome at V. Aurelia, 52. With its inviting ambiance and a charming family welcome, this bistro offers a splendid escape into the world of exquisite Italian cuisine, alongside an impressive selection of wines.
As I stepped into this vibrant establishment, I was immediately drawn in by its warm atmosphere and the evident passion of the staff. The owner and his lovely family greet each guest like an old friend, creating a sense of belonging that is often hard to find in bustling Roma. This personal touch sets the stage for a memorable dining experience.
One of the highlights of my visit was the drink selection, particularly the Hugo cocktail, which several patrons rave about as the perfect refresher on a hot day. The emphasis on quality ingredients is clear, as the cocktail bursts with freshness, making it an ideal companion to the delectable offerings on the menu.
Speaking of the menu, my attention was captured by the praise for the dishes. Customers like Joel Harris and Cameron Cook shared their delightful experiences, highlighting the delectable 250g burger and an impressive mixed cheese platter. The burgers here are not just any ordinary meal; they are crafted to perfection, showcasing the bistro's commitment to quality and flavor. The tasting experience is accompanied by expertly mixed cocktails, such as the acclaimed Moscow Mule, which has earned its place as a crowd favorite.
For lovers of pasta and risotto, portions of the menu have emerged as favorite staples, particularly the acclaimed risotto and traditional pastas. Judit Nagy lauded the tenderness and flavor that puts Vino & Peperoncino on the map for those seeking authentic Italian nourishment.
However, as with any dining venture, experiences can vary. A recent review pointed to a misstep with a specific risotto dish. While the restaurant has received accolades for many of their offerings, culinary consistency remains key. It's a reminder that every establishment has room for growth, and feedback is essential in the culinary journey.
Ultimately, Vino & Peperoncino Ristorante Bistrot Food & Wine stands as a testament to the rich tapestry of flavors that Italy has to offer. Whether you're enjoying a casual meal with friends or a romantic dinner close to the Vatican, this bistro promises a remarkable culinary adventure that lingers in your memory long after the last bite. I left with a heart full of joy and anticipation for my next visit, ready to dive deeper into their wine list and explore more of their expertly prepared Italian dishes.
“ Stopped in when we were in the area for a drink. We were welcomed in by the owner and his beautiful family. We got the Hugo cocktail which was the best and most refreshing cocktail I’ve ever had on a hot day. Enjoyed some prosecco as well! Food looked amazing and we’ll definitely be back to try it. You should too! ”
“ Amazing food and great service. I first thought it was just a small-ish food place to go for a quick bite to eat, but I was pleasantly surprised when it turned out to be a bit fancier. Even though my girlfriend and I were only dressed casually. The 250g burger was made to perfection, as was the mixed cheese platter. To drink we had Moscow Mules, and they were the best we've had in our little holiday. You will love eating here! ”
“ Delicious food, great vine, perfect service. Risotto, pastas, perfect Tiramisu. Highly recommend to everyone Very close to Vatican, few minutes to walk. ”
“ Amazing dishes. A perfect ending in Rome. We were not so sure which wine to choose and staff is very friendly and introduced us the wine patiently. We enjoyed the meals a lot. Highly recommended! ”
“ It is a beautiful and clean place, and the bartender was great. The drinks were delicious. However, for me, the food was mediocre at best. The carbonara was ok, not the best nor the worse, but the risotto was the worse I’ve ever had. I am not sure if it genuinely tasted bad or if I just didn’t like it. The garnishes were poorly chosen, as the smell of the sprouts was not complementing the smell of the cheese in the dish. The paprika and the poppy seeds were also off putting and out of place. It looked like someone threw everything they could find on that plate. The colours of the garnishes are also unfortunate, especially the sprouts, as it is clearly shown in the images, it looks bad... I didn’t tasted any cheese despite having a strong cheesy smell. I was expecting something extremely different, as the dish didn’t match the description in the menu as a risotto with cheese fondue (and saffron if I remember correctly - there was no saffron just misplaced paprika). Unfortunately, I was unable to eat that, and I strongly believe that the recipe should be heavily altered. I also didn’t like the bread, and one of the plates was chipped. Overall, the rice was quite expensive, about 16 euros for such bad risotto. I usually don’t complain about prices, as most of the times I think it is justified for the skills and good recipes, however now I think the price is excessive for a small dish of poorly cooked rice. The food in their pictures look nicer, perhaps the chef was away and a beginner took their place. On a better note, the place is clean, especially the bathroom. ”
“ An excellent experience from start to finish. The service was flawless, and I want to give special mention to Alin, our server, who truly made the evening even more enjoyable. Attentive, friendly, and with a great sense of humor, he made this dinner memorable. A small but thoughtful gesture: he even offered me a limoncello at the end of the meal — a sign of the warm and genuine hospitality here. In short, a place where you feel welcome and where you’ll definitely want to come back. ”
“ I saw all of the glowing reviews and took a chance that this was going to be a great experience. As a single traveller at this restaurant i was given attentive service by Alin and he suggested some amazing dishes including the gnocchi. A wonderful Calabrian restaurant that's not to be missed. The atmosphere is comfortable, the music is great (thanks for indulging me with music from my home town vocalist Michael Buble) and the food is as good as all have reviewed. ”
“ Went here as our first stop in Roma, right outside Vatican City. The chef makes your food to order, allowing substitutions. The cuisine tasted amazing, though the portions were small as anticipated. There was a charge for everything that I normally assumed to be complimentary (I.e. bread, still/tap water). The service was great and our waiter was extremely friendly. ”
